Dannii Minogue breaks down as she shares heartbreak over sister Kylie's cancer battle
Dannii Minogue broke down in tears as she discussed her sister Kylie's battle with breast cancer almost two decades ago
Dannii Minogue teared up as she discussed the impact her sister Kylie's cancer battle had on her.
During a conversation with Australian radio presenter Zan Rowe on ABC's Take 5, the 52-year-old opened up about the Love At First Sight star's breast cancer journey after she was diagnosed in May 2005. Kylie underwent a lumpectomy and started chemotherapy treatment not long after.
The disease had "no recurrence" after the surgery and Kylie returned to the public eye two months later when she visited a children's cancer ward at Melbourne's Royal Children's Hospital. She soon travelled to France to complete her chemotherapy treatment, with her publicist announcing she finished chemotherapy in January 2006.
Dannii reflected on the difficult period in the new interview with Zan. She said: "My sister got sick with breast cancer and she was in the middle of a tour." She choked up as she continued: "I remember her getting carried off stage and stuff. When I would go and visit her when she was having chemo and was very, very unwell. I would just jump around to music with her.

"It was music that kept us going and she was like, 'I need to finish the tour!' Like, she's so professional. We were like, 'Oh for god's sake, we need to keep you alive!' We knew that was her goal to get back and honour all those tickets. Every single person kept the ticket."
She went on to discuss Kylie returning to the stage after completing chemotherapy. "She said, 'Will you jump on stage with me?'... And the joy when we came out on stage from the audience was unbelievable. You could hear the roar." The duo felt the support from fans throughout the entire journey.
Dannii said one of her closest friends, Laura, also battled cancer but sadly died. The singer added: "She was staying with me and said she had a pain in her back – an hour later she was in the foetal position. She went into hospital and she never came out again. It was very hard to see her go through this."
The singer admitted that both of her loved ones going through cancer was a dark time for her and she managed to pull through thanks to the support of her sister Kylie.
Kylie previously discussed her diagnosis on 60 Minutes in 2014, revealing her cancer taught her how to "be selfish". She said: "Someone had said to me at the time, 'You need to be a little bit selfish.' It's not in my nature to be selfish but now is the time to do that. Let people take care of you. And… that's what I did."
