Foo Fighters are reportedly set to go on an indefinite hiatus following the news that frontman Dave Grohl fathered a child outside of his marriage.

The former Nirvana drummer, 55, announced he had a baby with an as-yet unnamed woman, after being married to actress and film producer Jordyn Blum, 48, since 2003, sharing three children with her. But Dave hasn't given up hope, and is hoping to win back the trust of his family after his betrayal, although it will come at a cost - his band Foo Fighters will be put on the backburner while he sorts out his messy personal life.

The band ended up pulling out of Soundside Music Festival in Bridgeport, Connecticut, with just three days notice. Having been billed for Sunday night, the band announced the news on X on Thursday. A statement read: "Foo Fighters will no longer be appearing at this weekend's Soundside Music Festival. Please check the festival website for more information."

And it looks like the show would've been their last for a while if it had gone ahead, with the group reportedly deciding to take a break. A source told The Sun : "The band need time to be with their families and focus on regrouping."

The insider added: "It’s been a turbulent few years, with the loss of their best friend, drummer Taylor Hawkins, the death of Dave’s mum and now the birth of his new child. He wants to be at home and focus on earning back the trust of his family." The source said that a hiatus is the best thing for the band "collectively".

The Mirror has contacted Dave Grohl and Foo Fighters' reps for comment.

Dave's news shocked fans, to whom he's known as the 'nice guy' of rock. In full, he wrote on social media when the news broke: “I’ve recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage. I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her. I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness. We’re all grateful for your consideration toward all the children involved, as we move forward together."

While Dave's bombshell revelation rattled the public, insiders weren't thrown off. A source disclosed to People Magazine: "We keep reading over and over again how heartbroken everyone is because Dave was supposed to be the 'good guy', the rockstar that didn't have to do those rockstar things. And people are crazy about the guy, but there is a rockstar side."
