Gardaí have issued a witness appeal after a man died in hospital after sustaining serious injuries in a two-vehicle collision in Wicklow on Thursday.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a two-car collision that occurred on the R753 between Ballinaclash and Aughrim in Wicklow at approximately 8:35am on Thursday.

The driver of one vehicle, a man aged in his 20s sustained serious injuries and was conveyed to St Vincent’s University Hospital Dublin. He has since passed away as a result of his injuries.

A passenger in the other vehicle, a female child was conveyed to Children’s Health Ireland at Crumlin as a precaution.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward, particularly any road users who may have camera footage.

A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision near Ballinaclash, Wicklow on Thursday morning.

They added: “Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area at the time of the incident, are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Wicklow Garda Station on 0404 60140, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”
