Alan Shearer isn't expecting Arsenal to take the same approach this weekend as they did in a feisty game against Manchester City.

The Gunners welcome Leicester City to the Emirates less than a week on from their draw against the Premier League champions that saw fiery moments. Mikel Arteta's side were moments away from claiming three points before John Stones ' late equaliser and were left disappointed despite finishing the game with 10 men.

Leandro Trossard's red card saw Arsenal take up a more defensive approach in the second period at the Etihad as they attempted to secure a result despite their disadvantage. Both Arsenal's lack of attacking ambition and 'dark arts' approach were criticised in the aftermath of the game.

Belgian winger Trossard returns having served his suspension against Bolton Wanderers midweek, and Shearer doesn't believe the Foxes will have to worry about their opponents sitting back. The former Newcastle United and Blackburn forward reckons the Gunners' unbeaten start to the season will continue.

"I can’t see Arsenal being as defensive in this one as they were for the second half at the Etihad!" Shearer told Betfair. "It'd be a huge surprise if Leicester took a point back. I can't see it happening with the form that Arsenal are in and the confidence and belief they'll take from last week's result. I won't go with anything crazy, I just see a convincing home win."

Leicester boss Steve Cooper is far from writing of his side's chances however. The newly-promoted side have yet to win this season and that remains the priority for the former Nottingham Forest manager.

"It couldn’t be a better time to get the result we are craving for," said Cooper. "I don’t think you can go into games thinking they are top of the league so let’s just get through it, we need to go in with the intention we can win the game, and that’s what we want to do on the weekend.

“Is there a gulf? Some people may say that but it doesn’t mean a game can be won or lost. We’d love to go to Arsenal on the weekend and get a result and we have to back ourselves to do that.

“We are not going to go into any game seeing it as a free hit or bonus, I don’t see anything worse than having a mentality like that and if I as a leader gave that to a player how could they believe anything I say?"
