A fundraiser launched to help the sons of mum-of-two Daena Walsh, who was tragically murdered in Cork last month, "heal and grow" has far surpassed its initial target.

Daena, 27, formerly of Vartry Heights in Roundwood, Co Wicklow was found seriously injured at her home in Midleton, Cork on Friday, August 2.

The mum of two young boys was found with stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene after emergency services attended the scene shortly after 4pm.

Hundreds of mourners gathered in St Laurence O' Toole's Church, Roundwood in Wicklow in August to pay their respects to Daena at her funeral Mass as she was laid to rest.

A fundraiser was launched to help Daena's "two beautiful little boys" following her tragic passing with the hopes of raising funds to "create a safe and comforting space for the boys to heal and grow".

"Thank you so much to everyone who has donated and shared our fundraiser for Daena’s boys," a post on GoFundMe reads.

"Thanks to your incredible generosity, we’ve reached our initial goal! Every contribution has played a crucial role in helping these little boys begin their new life.

"As we move forward, there are still ongoing needs for Daena’s family. Setting up their new home will require additional support, especially as we work to create a safe and comforting space for the boys to heal and grow.

"If you’re able, any further donations would be deeply appreciated to help cover these costs.

"Please continue to share this fundraiser with your friends and family. Your ongoing support means the world to us and will have a lasting impact on these two beautiful boys as they rebuild their lives. Thank you again for standing with us during this difficult time."

The fundraiser has far surpassed the initial target of €5,000, raising €6,060 for Daena’s two boys. To donate to the GoFundMe head here.

Adam Corcoran, 29, of John Barry House in Midleton has been charged with her murder. He has since appeared in court.
