Ronnie O’Sullivan claims he is having “no fun” just months after threatening to RETIRE from snooker.

The seven-time world champion is currently taking part in the Saudi Arabia Masters. He has reached the quarter-finals of the inaugural competition but it took a dramatic turnaround for him to progress.

Coming up against China's Zhang Anda, O’Sullivan lost each of the opening three frames. The 48-year-old managed to level matters but fell behind again at 5-4.

O’Sullivan recovered once more to seal a 6-5 success and despite that memorable comeback, he has been left disgruntled by his performance and recent form. He then hinted that retirement could not be far off.

He said: “I ain’t got long left. I’ll be lucky if I’m in the top 16 in two or three years the way I’m playing. The way I’ve been playing, it’s no fun for me. I just want to play well for seven, eight or nine matches on the bounce. He’s (Zhang) the best fluker I’ve ever seen. I thought he was going to fluke one and make 70.”

It is not the first time that O’Sullivan has complained about the sport during his time in Saudi Arabia. Following a prior victory over Lei Peifan, he claimed that he has had to change his technique to draw just the slightest bit of enjoyment out of the game.

Speaking about his left-hand accuracy, he said: “Not great. I’ll put it on the back burner a bit. I haven't had no feel for over two years now, it's been really difficult to sort of get any enjoyment from it.

"Its been tough, you know, so I decided to start playing a bit left-handed because it just frees me up a bit. I enjoy playing and then I can actually practice.

"For me, anything to get my cue out of the case and obviously when I go into the match I've just got to do anything I can to compete but it's not pretty, it's not good. I’m not flowing but what can you do. Just got to go with what you've got."

O’Sullivan has regularly expressed his desire to retire over recent months. He claimed earlier this year that he would only consider hanging up his cue should he claim an eighth world title, while he also wants to be playing well for two or three months before retiring.

O’Sullivan also claimed that he would be willing to retire instead of joining a breakaway Saudi snooker league. He will take on Si Jiahui after reaching the quarter-finals of the Saudi competition.
