Orla Comerford's family stole the show with a brilliant interview on RTE this evening.

The Comerford clan were interviewed shortly after Orla won bronze for Ireland in the T13 100m final at the Stade de France, Ireland's second bronze medal of the night following Róisín Ní Ríain's exploits just moments earlier at the La Defence Arena.

"Absolutely euphoric," said Mum Siobhan when asked to sum up her emotions, "Years and years of hard work, six days a week, injuries, rehab, injury, rehab, and she's now here and she has now got her medal. We're so incredibly proud of her.

When asked if he was biting his nails with the nerves, Dad Ger replied: "They're chewed to bits!"

"It's just unreal. The excitement, the buzz, the support, it has just been unreal. And she deserves every bit of it. She has worked so hard for it over the years, has had great support from everyone around her and it's just fantastic isn't it lads?"

As for her brothers, they were keen to stress how proud they were of their superstar sister.

"Incredibly proud," said her brother Gavin, "I've lost the voice already and it's only just starting the night. Incredibly proud.

"There's no words," said her other brother Morgan, "We all know how hard she works day in, day out and she deserves it and no-one works harder."

As for Orla herself, she came to the Games dreaming of taking home a gold medal. Bronze will have to do for now, especially after an injury ravaged couple of years, but the Raheny Shamrocks is already eyeing up another crack at gold in four-years time.

"It feels like a dream. It's also a roller coaster of emotions. It's not the medal I had dreamed of, but a Paralympic medal is such an honour, such a privilege, and to do it with all my family and friends here it's just sensational," said Orla.

"I knew like a year ago that it was going to take a World Record to win it, and that's what I had my eyes on. So, I feel like for myself I've fallen short of that.

"But I don't doubt that I have more. I'm just really excited to put the grind in for the next four years and come back for the medal I've always dreamt of."
