Rory McIlroy snaps driver in half and hits insane shot from water-hazard to save miraculous par
For the second time this week, McIlroy has made headlines for an incident involving one of his clubs and a water-hazard.
Rory McIlroy snapped his driver in anger before taking off his shoes and socks to hit a shot from a water-hazard on an eventful ninth hole at the BMW Championship.
As McIlroy's errant drive was heading for the drink, the World Number Two leaned heavily on his driver as he went to pick up his tee, snapping it clean in half.
Luck was on the side of the Holywood man however, as his ball somehow avoided going into the water and instead nestled up against a collar on the side of a bank. In another slice of fortune, the ball was positioned in such a way that McIlroy could stand on the rocks in the water to hit his second shot.

The Northern Irishman's bravery was rewarded as his incredible iron shot somehow found the putting surface, leaving the four-time major champion with a long-range Par putt.
Rory managed to get home in two to save par and remain at four-under for the tournament, nine shots back from current leader Keegan Bradley.
While McIlroy's hopes of winning this weekend have all but ended, the 35-year-old will be looking to find some form on the back nine and take momentum into next week's FedEx Cup finale: The Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club.
