RTE 2FM bosses announce new Drivetime host, replacing Lottie Ryan and David O'Reilly
The afternoon slot will see 2FM testing out a selection of guest hosts over the next few weeks
RTÉ 2FM has announced its new Drivetime host after Lottie Ryan and David O'Reilly finished up in the slot.
Radio star Lottie stepped in with David to cover the popular slot for a few weeks after The 2 Johnnies stepped down earlier this summer.
Now, RTÉ 2FM bosses have announced that Beta Da Silva is the voice you'll be hearing in the Drivetime slot over the coming weeks.

Taking to social media to comment on the news, he said: “We’re ticking another one off the checklist. So, I’m stepping away from The New Music Show for a little bit because for the next while I’ll be holding it down on Drivetime.
“A huge honour and privilege to be able to have an opportunity like this in this phase of my career and I’m very thankful to those who have trusted me enough to present a massive & important show like this.
“So many highlights in the last few years that I can’t forget; Overnight shows, Weekend Breakfast, presenting from EP live, presenting Choice Music Prize live, covering for OG Tracy’s show & most memorably, being able to contribute & shine a light on Irish music in the country & beyond. Very surreal that I get to add another to the list. All these things have lead me to where I’m at today & I’m very grateful."
He continued: “The music doesn’t stop, we’re keeping it going on 2FM Drive as you make your way home in the car. This one’s for all the music lovers & we’ve got loads of special shit lined up for yous all. We thank God.
“Tap into 2FM Drive with Beta Da Silva, Mon - Fri - 3-6pm. That baby boy from Pulse wouldn’t believe this shit at all. Love.”
Beta previously presented Weekend Breakfast on RTÉ 2FM before taking over the New Music Show. He has also worked as the station voice of 2FM. His fellow RTÉ stars took to the comments to congratulate him on the new role, including Laura Fox, who said: “Best of luck Beta!”
