Rising star Eanna Hardwicke has told of the “fun” he’s had shooting 'A Very Royal Scandal'.

The Cork actor plays the role as BBC TV producer Stewart Maclean in A Very Royal Scandal, which revolves around the events surrounding Prince Andrew’s infamous Newsnight interview in 2019.

The Amazon four-part series centres around Prince Andrew’s interview on his links to Jeffrey Epstein that was such a public relation disaster it marked the royal’s final fall from grace. Michael Sheen plays Prince Andrew and Ruth Wilson his interviewee, Emily Maitlis.

Opening up about shooting the mini series, he told the RTE Guide: “A brilliant piece of writing and an amazing ensemble, including Ruth Wilson, Joanna Scanlan and Alex Jennings. They are great people and we had such a fun time doing this.”

He said he thought his role as a Newsnight producer was “fascinating”.

“I played a Newsnight producer and it was fascinating to do something in that journalistic world. Oddly enough as we were filming, all these changes were going on at the BBC and at Newsnight, so it felt like the story wasn’t just about one individual interview, but about broadcast journalism as a whole. This was a really lovely job,” he added.

He revealed that the “finishing touches” were being put on the miniseries and he reckons it will be available to watch in the autumn.
