An England fan has claimed he woke up at 4am today (Monday, June 17) still inside FC Schalke 04's stadium after the 1-0 win against Serbia.

Looking worse for wear, the man filmed a short clip that was shared by @awaydaylads5 on TikTok, and said he had woken up in an empty stadium "shivering" after the match - leading to questions about how he went undetected.

"England fan waking up in the ground at 4am this morning, whole place to himself," the video was captioned. More than 20,000 people have liked the video, and it has been shared across X (formerly Twitter ) as well.

"I've just woken up. It's four o'clock in the morning. I'm shivering in Schalke's ground," he said, panning to show the 62,000 capacity stadium completely deserted.

The comments are full of people questioning how this could have possibly happened. One person pointed out: "Wouldn't still have the floodlights on at 4am surely."

"Just randomly in a seat next to the entrance and nobody noticed," another commented. A third TikTok user suggested he may have "fallen asleep in the toilets" and then returned to his seat.

Others made jokes about England's slightly lacklustre performance despite the win, saying it was no wonder the fan had fallen asleep during the "snoozefest".

Over on X, someone asked: "How did security not see him?" Another joked: "Anyone want to guess how many beers this lad had?"

The game was England's first of this year's Euros. The Three Lions currently sit top of their group thanks to a Jude Bellingham header in the 13th minute. Gareth Southgate's side will face Denmark next on Thursday (June 20).
