Neighbours of a gunman who allegedly gunned down 9 people at a water park "feared they were next" following the random attack.
Michael William Nash, 42, got out of his mum's car at around 5.11pm on Saturday at the Brooklands Plaza Splash Pad in Detroit and opened fire with a 9mm Glock semi-automatic handgun. He critically injured an eight-year-old boy after firing and reloading a second time before leaving bullet magazines at the scene, according to police.
He walked "calmly" back to his car before he was later found dead in a mobile home park less than two miles away from the water park. He had a history of mental health issues, Sheriff Michael Bouchard said. An investigation remains ongoing.

Nash, whose identity was revealed on Sunday, was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot at the mobile park home. He had an "AR platform" semiautomatic rifle on the table along with at least one other gun, the sheriff said.
A 39-year-old woman had gunshot wounds to her stomach and legs, and her 4-year-old relative is in critical condition after being shot in the thigh. They were all "one family", according to police. The rest of the nine victims were in stable condition at a variety of Metro Detroit hospitals and their condition remained unchanged Sunday.
"When I got on scene, I started to cry because I know what a splash pad is supposed to be. It's supposed to be a place where people gather and families make memories, where people have fun and enjoy a Saturday afternoon," Rochester Mayor Bryan Barnett said Saturday night. "… What normally happens in our city, didn't happen today."

The gun found on Nash's kitchen table at his mobile home park had residents worried, with many worried they were his next victims.
Alex Roser, who lives within a few yards of Nash's home, said: "I wonder what he was planning to do with that semiautomatic rifle. And I wonder if we somehow triggered him because my kids and I play football outside of his place all of the time.”
Kyleen Duchene, who has lived in the mobile home park for 20 years, said the gunman was a "loner" whose "blinds are always pulled. I don’t know why he chose to go to the water park," she added. "He doesn’t have any kids.”
