The GAA’S Central Council have narrowly voted against a contentious proposal to flip this weekend’s All-Ireland hurling quarter-finals with the Tailteann Cup semi-finals.
GAA chiefs met this evening with the vote requiring a 60percent majority, but it is understood to have fallen just short of that.
Wexford GAA were in favour of the hurling quarter-finals, where they meet Clare, being moved from Saturday to Sunday due to a clash with Feile in their county. Cork face Dublin in the other game.

Hurling fans have been left annoyed at the All-Ireland quarter-finals - the fourth and fifth biggest games of the year - not being allotted a Sunday slot.
And a request emerged from fixtures workshops held in Munster and Leinster last week to move the games to a Sunday.
This move would have seen the Tailteann Cup semi-finals move to next Saturday, affecting the planning of Sligo, Down, Laois and Antrim.
As part of the original package of measures aimed at promoting the Tailteann Cup the semi-finals were to be played at Croke Park as a double header with no other action taking place on the day.
But last year’s Mayo/Galway preliminary All-Ireland quarter-final was fixed for the same afternoon as the Tailteann Cup semi-finals.
Sligo boss Tony McEntee, whose side will play Down in next Sunday’s Tailteann Cup semi-final, said that convening the meeting showed disrespect to the tier two competition.
