'My dad would be turning in his grave' - daughter of RTE legend Larry Gogan reacts to 2FM turmoil
'My dad would be turning in hi

The daughter of the late legendary 2FM DJ Larry Gogan has said her father “would be turning in his grave" in the wake of Jennifer Garrihy, Jennifer Zamparelli and The 2 Johnnies leaving the station.

The beloved presenter died in January 2020 at the age of 85.

He always loved presenting music shows and was the natural choice to move across to RTÉ 2FM when that station opened in 1979, remaining one of that station's favourite DJs for the next 40 years.

Reacting to Jennifer Zamparelli’s shock departure on Instagram, Orla Gogan, Larry’s daughter, said her father “would be turning in his grave”.

She said: “Wow what’s happening in 2fm. My dad would be turning in his grave.

“Best of luck and loved listening to you.”

But Ms Gogan declined to comment any further when contacted by The Irish Mirror.

Her legendary dad was best remembered for playing classic hits on the Golden Hour and hosting the Just A Minute Quiz, which became as famous for its wrong answers as it did for the correct ones.

He was a strong supporter of Irish music over the years, winning many awards from the music and broadcasting industries and was also a member of the IMRO Hall of Fame.

When the father-of-five left the station in 2019, it was renamed Larry Gogan FM for the day in recognition of his tremendous contribution to broadcasting.
