Tipperary 1-19 Cork 0-21

Tipperary won the Munster U20 Hurling Championship with a sensational winning point from Darragh McCarthy - but Rebel fans are fuming after the umpires missed a Cork goal at a crucial moment.

The match was keenly fought between two closely-matched sides at the TUS Gaelic Grounds.

The only time in the contest that there were more than two points between the sides was when Tipperary's Oisin O'Donoghue found the net in the second half.

But Cork came roaring back and were only trailing by a single point in the 45th minute when the controversial moment occurred.

Cork's William Buckley took a shot towards the goal from the distance that was caught by Tipp goalkeeper Eoin Horgan before a goalline scramble ensued.

The Cork defence eventually cleared the danger, although replays then showed that Horgan clearly pushed the ball into the roof of the net after catching Buckely's effort, which was missed by the goalside umpires.

Speaking after the match on TG4, Cork U20 manager Ben O'Connor was fuming when shown the goal that wasn't given.

He said: "I think that umpire should put his glasses on. When you see that there, it's obvious [that it was a goal].

"It's not sour grapes, but if you can't judge that, I don't know why he is standing there at all."

Notwithstanding the 'ghost goal', Cork were guilty of a huge number of wides and still managed to draw level in additional time only for Tipperary's Darragh McCarthy to hit a sensational match-winning point at the death.

The Premier County will go on to play Offaly in the All-Ireland final at Nowlan Park next Saturday.
