RTE has declined to reveal when Jennifer Zamparelli will return back to her radio show.

The 2FM star took "extended leave" on April 5, with Laura Fox being drafted in to take over her radio show.

However, RTE has declined to comment on when the Dancing with the Stars host is set to return, saying: "no comment."

In April, Jen said: "Finally switching off and in holiday mode… it definitely took a while.

"The last couple of weeks have been extremely hectic professionally and personally so taking a little extended time off my radio show on @rte2fm to be with the family. I might even play a board game with @zampers1 (Only joking.. I haven’t completely lost it)."

She said: "I have never in my ten years taken more than a week off so it’s time.

"Looking forward to being available for the family and listening in to the little rocket that is @foxylaura10 who will be keeping my seat warm. See you in a few weeks!"

It comes after her Dancing with the Stars co-host Doireann Garrihy announced she is quitting RTE 2FM after five years on the station's breakfast show.

In a statement released through the broadcaster on Wednesday morning, Doireann (31), explained that she wanted to spend more time focusing on her podcasts and future projects.

Doireann thanked her co-hosts, her producers and head of 2FM Dan Healy as she prepares for her final few weeks on the air.

"After 5 years of 2FM Breakfast it’s time for ventures new," Doireann said. "Donncha and Carl, I have found brothers for life in you both. What an absolute blast of craic, ridiculous immaturity and lifelong bond building. Anyone would be blessed to work with one gentleman every day, I was beyond blessed to work with two.

"To the loyal 2FM listeners, through thick and thin you’ve been there. Your support has meant everything. There wasn’t a day I didn’t hop out of the bed at 5am. Thank you for welcoming me with open ears back in 2019 and every day since. Producer Grace, you’re a boss, a queen, a friend for life. Willem, it’s been an absolute pleasure. Thank you to Dan Healy for meeting me in 2019 and taking a chance on me. I’m so glad you did.

"Now, it’s time for my podcasts Doireann and Friends and The Laughs Of Your Life, to travel, to give more to the people who have been on this journey with me since the viral impressions video of 2016 and to pursue the projects I’ve been dreaming about. As we would say to our lovely callers on air, good luck and thanks."

Since her announcement, radio bosses in RTE 2FM have been forced to address rumours that Jennifer is in a dispute with the station after she made the surprise announcement that she was taking the "extended" break to go on holidays for more than a month.

RTÉ 2FM boss Dan Healy previously insisted: "She’s on leave. It’s bullsh*t. Bullsh*t, bullsh*t, bullsh*t. She’s on leave. It’s farcical.

"She posted on social media that she’s going on holidays.

"The 2 Johnnies were off from the 14th of December to the 20-something of January."
