Service station chain Circle K is offering free tea and coffee to people taking part in Saturday's Pieta Darkness into Light event in return for their support of Pieta House.

The annual walking event serves as an opportunity to raise funds for Pieta House and provides the chance for people to connect with their local community by bringing hope to people who have been impacted by suicide.

This year, Darkness into Light events will be held at over 230 locations, many of which are near Circle K stores. The global fuel provider and retail space will make the offer of free hot drinks, with the exception of Circle K Express.

Gillian McGowran, Market Development Director at Circle K Ireland, said: "Pieta's annual Darkness into Light puts a spotlight on the importance of mental wellbeing, and we are very proud to support participants of this event and our communities nationwide. We hope this gesture of offering a free hot beverage to everyone taking part, will help set them up for the day ahead after their valuable contribution towards Pieta’s vital services."

The Darkness into Light event will begin nationwide at will take place at 4.15am on Saturday morning. Pieta is encouraging people to take part in any way they can. This can be through the official walk or Take Part in Your Own Way.

The charity would also like those keen to contribute to create their own Darkness into Light fundraiser by holding a bake sale, a car wash, a sponsored silence, a run, or a swim and fundraising with family, friends and colleagues in their local area.
