Republic of Ireland international Shane Duffy has reportedly been charged with drink-driving following a two-vehicle crash and was arrested on Monday night.

Duffy, who plays for Norwich, now has a court date set for July following the crash. No one was injured in the collision.

In a statement released by Norfolk Police to the BBC, they said: "Police were called to Queen's Road, Hethersett, 21:05, on Monday 6 May, following reports of a two-vehicle collision.

"Emergency services attended the scene and a man, aged in his 30s, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving. He was taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning. No-one was injured."

Duffy was reportedly charged with a drink-driving offence, having provided a breath sample of 102mcgs of alcohol, nearly three times the legal limit.

And Duffy's club Norwich has said they are aware of an incident involving one of their first-team players and have said they will deal with the matter internally.

The Ireland centre-half joined Norwich at the beginning of the 2023/24 season and the arrest will come as an unwelcome distraction with the Canaries taking on Leeds in the play-off semi-final on Sunday afternoon.

The 32-year-old has represented Ireland on 60 occasions, including captaining the side, and has scored seven times.
