Brendan Rodgers snubbed as Manager of the Year nominees announced
Celtic are top of the table and will compete in the Scottish Cup final but Rodgers has not been named on the SFWA Manager of the Year shortlist.
Rangers boss Philippe Clement is among this year's nominees for the Scottish Football Writers Association (SFWA) William Hill Manager of the Year award but rival Brendan Rodgers is NOT on the four-man shortlist.
Ibrox boss Clement could still win a domestic Treble in a remarkable turnaround since succeeding axed Light Blues manager Michael Beale in October, taking over at the helm in Govan with Rangers trailing Celtic by seven points in the Scottish Premiership and lifting the League Cup with a win over Aberdeen at Hampden.
They have also booked a Scottish Cup final date against Celtic later this month but they have lost the title initiative in recent weeks with the Hoops, chasing a third consecutive crown, hosting their rivals at Parkhead on Saturday where victory would give them a six-point lead. And a title win would leave Rodgers just 90 minutes from a double in his second stint in the east end of Glasgow.
Clement is joined on the shortlist by PFA Scotland Manager of the Year John McGlynn, Kilmarnock gaffer Derek McInnes, who has already qualified for Europe next season with the Ayrshiremen, and Tony Docherty after he guided Dundee into the top six in their first season back in the top flight.
Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou won the prize last season and this season’s recipient will be announced at an awards dinner in Glasgow on Sunday, May 19 along with their SPFL player of the year, young Scottish player of the year and International Player of the Year.
