Michael Chandler vows to retir

Michael Chandler believes his fight with Conor McGregor at UFC 303 on June 29th could be the last time the Irishman competes in the Octagon.

McGregor will return from a three-year absence next month when he takes on Chandler in a fight that is over a year in the making after the duo coached opposite each other on The Ultimate Fighter in 2023.

The Notorious has been out of action since breaking his leg against Dustin Poirier in 2021, and in Chandler's view, the former two-weight UFC Champion could be set for an indefinite absence once the American is done with the controversial Dubliner.

“You have to buy this PPV…” Chandler told fans in an interview with New York Post Sports. “because this could be the last time that you ever see Conor McGregor fight.

“I truly believe that what I’m going to do to him on June 29th is going to warrant and merit him never stepping back into the Octagon. With that being said, Conor might be able to pull off the greatest comeback in combat sports history.” Chandler added.

“There’s a chance that we see the greatest comeback in combat sports history. (I’m) arguably the most exciting guy to ever set foot in the UFC Octagon.

“What I have made in my masterpiece that I’ve been painting in the last couple of years with the UFC, it is two of the most explosive and exciting guys, two of the most intriguing guys, and possibly the greatest comeback in combat sports history, or Conor McGregor’s last fight in MMA.” Chandler claimed.

While McGregor is in intense training for his bout with Chandler, he did take time out of his busy schedule to throw a lavish Birthday party for his children Conor Jr and Rian last weekend.

Posting a number of photos from the party online, MMA star McGregor wrote: "Best 7 years of my time on this earth, thank you God, thank you Mammy, thank you my son @conormcgregorjr you are the coolest kid I’ve ever known, I absolutely love you my boy! Happy 7th birthday my son, Daddy loves ya."
