A teenager has been arrested after gardaí in Dublin seized a firearm alongside a staggering amount of cocaine and cannabis worth hundreds of thousands.

On Tuesday, gardaí attached to the Finglas Drugs Unit conducted a search of a wasteland area and recovered suspected cocaine with an estimated value of €59,500.

Later the same day a second search was conducted of the same wasteland area. During this search, suspected cocaine with an estimated value of €52,500 as well as €5,400 of cannabis and a sawn-off shotgun were recovered.

A male juvenile, aged in his teens, was arrested at the scene and is currently detained under Section 30 Offenses Against the State Act, 1939 at a Garda Station in North Dublin. The drugs (which totalled a combined value of €117,400) and the firearm seized will be sent for further examination. A spokesperson for gardaí told the Irish Mirror that investigations into these seizures are ongoing.

This is the second major seizure by gardaí on Tuesday, with two separate consignments of herbal cannabis, with a combined weight of approximately 184kgs and a combined estimated value of €3,680,000, seized in Wexford and Dublin yesterday. The seizures were made as part of two separate intelligence-led operations involving the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and Revenue Customs Service.

An Garda Síochána arrested one man in his 60s following the seizure of 139 kgs of herbal cannabis while separately one man in his 50s was arrested by An Garda Síochána following the seizure of 45 kgs of herbal cannabis.
