Netflix has announced the start of production on the second season of the streamer's hit show Wednesday with several new cast members joining the series.

It was announced last November that production of the second season of the hit series would move to Ireland, with most of the filming due to take place at Ardmore and Ashford Studio in Co Wicklow.

Netflix announced on Tuesday that filming on the eagerly anticipated second season is now officially underway in Ireland, with several new cast members joining the series.

The first season of the Jenna Ortega-led series was shot in Romania from September 2021 to March 2022. However, it is reported that this location presented logistical challenges for production.

The hugely popular series could serve to give a boost to tourism in Ireland as many locations featured in season one, such as Cantacuzino Castle in the Romanian town of Bușteni, became popular tourist attractions after the show aired.

It has already been confirmed that Wednesday season two will not be returning to Netflix until 2025.
