Arne Slot is expecting to be officially confirmed as Jurgen Klopp's replacement in the "next days and weeks", with the Dutchman impressed by Liverpool's 4-2 win over Tottenham.

Speaking after his Feyenoord side beat PEC Zwolle 5-0, Slot revealed he watched the start of Liverpool's clash with Spurs and saw star man Mohamed Salah score a "great" first goal. "I saw a few minutes of the game but we had to come to the stadium," Slot told reporters.

"Just the first goal, a great goal. It was a good win from Liverpool. If the official confirmation is there, and I go there, I will watch a lot of games from them. Sometimes in life, opportunities come along and you have to listen.

"I have made that choice for myself. In the next days and weeks, you will see the announcement. Last year I made the choice to stay [turning down interest from Tottenham] and now, I probably made another choice."

One of the biggest decisions facing Slot, the returning Michael Edwards and new sporting director Richard Hughes will be the future of Mohamed Salah. Liverpool rejected a £150million offer from Saudi Arabia last summer, but with just one year left on Salah's contract the club need to either tie him down to a new deal or cash in.

Salah was also involved in a spat with Klopp during Liverpool's 2-2 draw against West Ham last month, which only served to spark further speculation about his future after the 31-year-old declined to comment on the incident by telling reporters : "If I speak, there will be fire ".

However, Klopp has since moved to downplay the seriousness of the clash, although he admitted he is unsure what the future holds for Salah. "Completely resolved, it's no problem," he said of the incident on Friday.

"If we didn't know each other for that long, I'm not sure how we would deal with it. But we've known each other for that long and respect each other too much that it's really no problem. I think we have the right to deal with these kinds of things completely independent of any expectations from the outside. So we are absolutely fine with it, that's a long story.

"In general, the best situation would be that everyone's in the best possible place, we win the games, we score loads of goals and yes, then the situation probably would not have been exactly like that, because Mo wouldn't have been on the bench in the first place - things like that. Of course, it all depends on each other."

Asked about Salah's future at the club, Klopp added: "It's not my subject anymore. I don't think I should speak about it, others will decide that, especially Mo. Those decisions will be made by other people."
