Devin Haney has told Ryan Garcia he owes fans an apology after failing two drug tests in relation to their grudge fight.

Garcia produced a massive upset last month when he dropped Haney three times before winning on points, silencing concerns about his mental state and social media antics. Less than two weeks after his win, Garcia was informed he tested positive for the banned performance-enhancing drug ostarine in a urine sample the day before the fight and also directly after the bout.

Garcia has since taken to social media to protest his innocence, but Haney is unimpressed with how his bitter rival has reacted to the news. "We learned about this situation not too long ago and it's unfortunate Ryan cheated and disrespected both the fans and the sport of boxing by fighting dirty and breaking positive not once, but twice," Haney wrote.

"Ryan owes the fans an apology, and by his recent tweet he still thinks this is a joke. We put our lives on the line to entertain people for a living. You don't play boxing. This puts the fight in a completely different light. Despite the disadvantage, I still fought on my shield and got back up! People die in this sport. This isn't a joking matter."

Garcia also tested positive for 19-Norandrosterone, a metabolite of the anabolic steroid nandrolone, but the presence of the banned substance is unconfirmed until further lab analysis. Garcia will now have 10 days to request that his B-sample be tested in an effort to clear his name.

"Everybody knows that I don't cheat," Garcia said. "I beat that man fair and square. I have never cheated a day in my life. Never taken a steroid. I don't even know where to get steroids, I don't even know what they look like. I barely take supplements. Big lies, I beat his a**. This is some bull****."

Garcia missed out on the chance to win Haney's world title in the fight after missing weight by 3.2lb and being fined $600,000. Haney's dad and trainer Bill reacted to the news by telling Sports Illustrated : “You trying to hurt my baby. We played it fair. We didn’t do it like that. F*** boxing, this is some bull****. You scared of Devin on a level playing field. I feel f***** up over this."
