Gabby Agbonlahor has slammed Jurgen Klopp for his treatment of Mohamed Salah and believes the Liverpool forward 'deserves more respect' after their touchline row at West Ham.

Klopp decided to name Salah on the bench for the second time in three matches after struggling in the 2-0 defeat against Everton on Wednesday. With the Reds drawing 2-2 at the London Stadium and searching for a winner, Klopp chose to bring the Egyptian on for the final 12 minutes.

But before he entered the pitch, Klopp could be seen having a go at Salah, who responded in a short but furious conversation on the touchline. Salah was spotted throwing his arms across his body, while Klopp cut an animated figure and far from pleased with the incident.

After the game, neither man wanted to speak about the altercation, though Klopp did admit that he had spoken to Salah in the dressing room and everything was sorted. However, former Aston Villa striker Agbonlahor is convinced Salah has every reason to be annoyed at Klopp.

He told talkSPORT: "It think it's been coming from Salah. Salah's not a sub. You can put Salah on the bench if you are rotating. But Salah has scored 210 goals and has 86 assists for Liverpool.

"A game against West Ham is tough, you don't give him 12 minutes. That's what he was probably saying on the sideline. '12 minutes, come on, I'm Salah, you wouldn't have a trophy without me, Jurgen'. They wouldn't have won any trophies without Salah. He's been unbelievable for that football club. Where's the respect?"

Salah has not been at his best in recent weeks, netting just one goal in six matches. However, the 31-year-old is still far and away their top scorer this season, having struck 24 times and added 12 assists in 41 matches.

With Klopp leaving Liverpool and Arne Slot expected to take over, Salah's future is uncertain. He has just over a year left on his contract and Agbonlahor thinks Salah could accelerate a move away.

Will Mo Salah leave Liverpool this summer? Let us know in the comments below!

He said: "Klopp is causing problems now for Liverpool's squad next season [by] upsetting players. There is talk of Salah leaving. Could this affect Salah now?

"You need to win a game in a title challenge, and you are giving your star player 12 minutes, so you can't blame him on the sideline. I think Klopp's got that wrong, disrespecting Salah."

Liverpool were unable to score a winner inside the final quarter of an hour and were forced to settle for a 2-2 draw, denting their hopes winning the Premier League title. The Reds remain third but sit one point behind second-place Manchester City and two adrift of leaders Arsenal.

City boast two games in hand while the Gunners have also played a game fewer.
