David Moyes will be glad to see the back of Jurgen Klopp and his ‘bright teeth’, the West Ham boss has joked.

The German took his Liverpool side to the London Stadium for the final time this weekend ahead of his Reds exit. The two sides produced an entertaining game as they battled to a rollercoaster 2-2 draw.

In 14 career meetings against Klopp, Moyes has won just once. Asked about Klopp’s imminent exit, the West Ham boss joked he was looking forward to not coming up against him and his iconic smile anymore.

“I’ll be glad he’s gone!” laughed the West Ham manager. “He’s too big, his teeth are too bright! I hate saying it as I’ve worked against him in the other clubs which are probably their biggest rivals (Everton and Manchester United), but he has been immense for Liverpool, he really has been.

“He is the daddy there. He has been able to control a big football club which is something that isn’t easy to do at times.

“I’m glad to see the back of him, I’ve got to say! The Premier League brings in lots of managers from different places, some come and go very quickly, and some can last the course, like Jose Mourinho, Sir Alex (Ferguson), Pep (Guardiola), Arsene (Wenger) and obviously Jurgen.

“Jurgen has been really good, I hate saying it, but he has been really good for Liverpool. Pleased to see you move on! To manage a club like Liverpool you need to be very good and he is very good at his job.”

West Ham went a distance to ensure that Klopp’s farewell party is under threat of falling flat. Jarrod Bowen initially gave the Hammers the lead, only for an Andrew Robertson equaliser and an Alphonse Areola own-goal to flip the game on its head.

Michail Antonio hauled the Hammers level late on to see a share of the points. The draw leaves Liverpool two points off the pace in the race for the Premier League title, albeit having played a game more.

Outgoing boss Klopp also had a tense showdown with star forward Mohamed Salah, who was left on the bench . The pair were spotted arguing as the Egyptian prepared to be introduced.

The Reds have three games left to rescue their season. They take on Tottenham and Aston Villa before hosting Wolves in Klopp’s final Liverpool game.

Feyenoord boss Arne Slot has already been identified as his replacement. Liverpool have agreed on a compensation package with the Dutch side.
