Rhasidat Adeleke proved she is one of the fastest women in the world as she beat two former world champions in Texas.

Adeleke ran a time of 10.84 seconds to win the women's 100m final at the Texas Invitational on Saturday.

The Dubliner finished 0.1 seconds clear of American Celera Barnes and 0.26 seconds ahead of third-place finisher Great Britain's Dina Asher-Smith, the 2019 world champion at 200m.

In fourth place was Julien Alfred, the reigning world indoor 60m champion.

Adeleke's time of 10.84 seconds smashed her personal 100m record of 11.31 and Sarah Lavin's Irish record of 11.27.

But the 21-year-old's run won't go into the record books, as wind assistance was recorded at 3.5 metres per second, which is above the 2.0 limit.

Nevertheless, it was a brilliant sign for the Irish sprinter who will be focusing on the 200m and the 400m at the Paris Olympics.

She will compete with her Ireland team-mates in the World Relay Championships in the Bahamas on May 4-5, with a relay spot at the Olympics at stake.
