The PGA Tour travelled to TPC at Louisiana this week for the annual Zurich Classic of New Orleans. The two-man team tournament is a breath of fresh air on the heels of a major championship and historic event.

Unlike past years where the Zurich Classic has lacked significant star power, several big name golfers are currently competing in the field, as five of the top 15 players in the Official World Golf rankings are in attendance. A £7.1 million ($8.9m) purse is what’s up for grabs, with the winners each taking home £1.029 million ($1.286m).

Among the many stars competing at TPC Louisiana is Rory McIlroy, who’s making his tournament debut alongside close friend and fellow Irishman Shane Lowry. Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele - winners of the 2022 Zurich Classic - have also returned.

“It's nice to come here [and] team up with a really good friend,” said McIlroy after posting an opening-round 61. “It’ll be awesome to … try to get a win on the PGA Tour with a friend beside me, so looking forward to it.”

“I definitely feel like there’s a nice vibe out there with the two of us, and we know each other’s game so well,” Lowry added. “We’ve played a lot of golf, we play a lot of golf at home together and we just know each other so well. So yeah, it’s been nice.”

Several sets of brothers have additionally joined forces for the event, including Alex and Matt Fitzpatrick, Rasmus and Nicolai Hojgaard and Parker and Pierceson Cody.
