Ireland's Fittest Family is calling on households across Ireland to take the leap at claiming the €15,000 winning prize as the RTÉ show returns for its twelfth year.

Following on from the success of the Stratford family from Cavan under Donncha O'Callagahn's stewardship in last year's installment, producers are urging fresh participants to take on the challenge of proving themselves the fittest family in the land.

In a statement released on Thursday, producers said: "We’re combing the country to find the fittest, fastest and strongest families. Last year, rugby ace Donncha O’Callaghan coached the Stratfords from Co. Cavan to victory. Maybe this year it could be your family scaling the ramp for the title of Ireland’s Fittest Family."

They also outlined four requirements that must be met in order for yourself and your fighting fit family members to take part in the new season.

• Teams must have at least one male and one female member.
• A team can be made up of four immediate family members (a minimum of one parent/step-parent, one child), or if this isn't possible, three immediate family members (as above) and an extended family member (Grandparent/First Cousin/Aunt/Uncle).
• Minimum age to take part is 14 years old by 1 June 2024.
• The series will be filmed between May – mid August 2024 and families will be required for up to eight filming days (mostly on location) over this period.
