Pop singer Ellie Goulding has confessed how she has 'regrets' about her previous high-profile relationships as 'she wasn't herself.'

The I Need Your Love musician, 32, who is now married to art dealer Caspar Jopling, 27, and previously dated DJ Greg James and McFly's Dougie Poynter, has reflected on how she was in relationships to 'survive' from being in the spotlight and that she 'wasn't really herself.'

Looking back, she reflected: "I didn’t know who I was. I was in relationships but I felt like I needed to have someone because I wasn’t close to my family."

She continued during the chat on Ferne Cotton's Happy Place podcast: “I had this job taking me around the world, that was forcing me to be in the spotlight every day, to be talked about, so I always needed someone.

"But I wasn’t really me. So anyone I was close to, I don’t want to say it wasn’t real, but it wasn’t what it should have been. I regret that, but it was my survival.”

Ellie dated BBC's Greg for 18 months from 2010, but they ended their relationship in 2012.

The star was then in a relationship with McFly hunk Dougie for two years before they split for good in 2016.

The blonde beauty went on to tie the knot with dashing Caspar earlier this year with a lavish ceremony held at York Minster.

Elsewhere in the interview, she reflected on how she turned to booze because of the pressure of fame.

The newlywed bravely told: "I had to be a fake person to deal with the surreal situation I was in.

“Usually for me it involved alcohol. I assumed I couldn’t be good enough, smart, funny, or crazy enough to be with certain people without it."

During the chat on Ferne Cotton's Happy Place podcast, she thought back to taking part in Radio 1 Live Lounge sessions and how she would hit the bottle before holding the mic.

In September the Burn hitmaker married Caspar Jopling

The blonde told: “Live Lounges used to be most nerve-wracking, I even drank before those, I swear to God."

Explaining her thought process, she added: “I would say, ‘Right, I’ve got to drink this morning because I’ve got this interview and I don’t really know how to answer the questions, because I don’t really know who I am any more’.

“I thought drinking would at least make me a bit more funny, or interesting."

Ellie denied being dependent on alcohol, as she added: "I wasn’t an alcoholic. I could go months without a drink too.”

Conor McGregor UFC news: Notorious could fight Jorge Masvidal after Donald Cerrone

Conor McGregor UFC news: Notorious could fight Jorge Masvidal after Donald Cerrone

Conor McGregor could face Jorge Masvidal in his second fight of 2020, should he get past Donald Cerrone .

The former two-weight world champion takes on 'Cowboy' in Las Vegas on January 18, and has claimed he will fight three times next year.

And it appears that the wheels are already turning for his second bout of the year, with UFC megastar and 'BMF' champion Jorge Masvidal admitting that McGregor is a likely next opponent.

Speaking with Yahoo Sports, Masvidal said: "I’m the ticket at 170 pounds, so I’m going to go and get the biggest, best and toughest fights.

"It’s looking like we might fight Nick Diaz next, it’s looking like it might be Conor McGregor, obviously those fights come first because of the pay-cheque and everything it brings."

And according to UFC insider Ariel Helwani, McGregor wants to fight three times in 2020 to stay out of trouble.

It was confirmed this week at the Notorious will make his long-awaited return to the octagon against Donald Cerrone on January 18 .

But that is only the first part of a three-fight plan in the view of Helwani who believes the Crumlin man has regained his focus.

”Okay, so he has laid out this plan that he wants to fight three times next year,” Helwani said on SportsCenter.

“And he hasn’t done that in over three years as well, so it’s a pretty lofty goal. But he believes that when he is active, then he’s not getting distracted, he’s not getting in trouble.

"He’s very focused. And people are telling me right now that they haven’t seen him this focused in a very long time.”

Helwani added: ”You hear this a lot in the fight game, but he’s going to sleep early, he’s waking up early.

"“He wants to prove to everyone that thinks he’s shot that they are wrong. So he wants to fight January 18th - in fact, he wanted to fight in December but the UFC didn’t give him that opportunity.

"So he wanted to fight at the beginning of the year, then he wants to return towards spring / summer, maybe fight Jorge Masvidal or Nate Diaz.”

Eddie Hearn defends decision to hold Anthony Joshua v Andy Ruiz Jr in Saudi Arabia

Eddie Hearn claims Canelo Alvarez, Deontay Wilder and boxing’s other big names will be drawn to Saudi Arabia by the riches on offer.

The Saudis are paying over £31million to stage the Clash on the Dunes in Diriyah between Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz and Hearn claims this could be the first of many big fights here.

Joshuas’s promoter claims the Saudis are serious about rivalling Las Vegas as a global boxing venue and can see all the big names coming here.

“The bigger picture, who knows?” he said. “The people I’m dealing with I believe have very good intentions for the sport of boxing. They want the sport to develop in this territory.

“Sometimes you've got to look at the bigger picture and the last few days I've really been looking at this event, the venue, the graphics we’ve been putting out, thinking this is pretty mega.

“If they’re going to be investing this kind of money in the sport, we’ve got to be realists and say this is what’s going to happen.

“Everyone's coming - Canelo, Pacquiao, maybe Wilder - and they’re all coming for one reason - they want the money.”

Hearn has been criticised for coming to Saudi because of the country’s poor human rights record and he says he is a promoter rather than a politician.

He claims Tyson Fury was not slated when he fought here in a WWE event a few weeks ago.

“Tyson Fury came here with WWE and no-one raised an eyebrow,” he said.

“I was driving around today and you see House of Fraser. You go into the mall and see Gucci, Chanel, even Starbucks, major corporations who are willing to trade here.

“I can’t sit here and say it has nothing to do with me, but the bottom line is, I’m not a politician.

“As ruthless as it is, I’ve got a job to do for my fighter. It doesn’t matter what I think, but I am happy and excited at how everything has gone.”
