Conor McGregor could face Jorge Masvidal in his second fight of 2020, should he get past Donald Cerrone .

The former two-weight world champion takes on 'Cowboy' in Las Vegas on January 18, and has claimed he will fight three times next year.

And it appears that the wheels are already turning for his second bout of the year, with UFC megastar and 'BMF' champion Jorge Masvidal admitting that McGregor is a likely next opponent.

Speaking with Yahoo Sports, Masvidal said: "I’m the ticket at 170 pounds, so I’m going to go and get the biggest, best and toughest fights.

"It’s looking like we might fight Nick Diaz next, it’s looking like it might be Conor McGregor, obviously those fights come first because of the pay-cheque and everything it brings."

And according to UFC insider Ariel Helwani, McGregor wants to fight three times in 2020 to stay out of trouble.

It was confirmed this week at the Notorious will make his long-awaited return to the octagon against Donald Cerrone on January 18 .

But that is only the first part of a three-fight plan in the view of Helwani who believes the Crumlin man has regained his focus.

”Okay, so he has laid out this plan that he wants to fight three times next year,” Helwani said on SportsCenter.

“And he hasn’t done that in over three years as well, so it’s a pretty lofty goal. But he believes that when he is active, then he’s not getting distracted, he’s not getting in trouble.

"He’s very focused. And people are telling me right now that they haven’t seen him this focused in a very long time.”

Helwani added: ”You hear this a lot in the fight game, but he’s going to sleep early, he’s waking up early.

"“He wants to prove to everyone that thinks he’s shot that they are wrong. So he wants to fight January 18th - in fact, he wanted to fight in December but the UFC didn’t give him that opportunity.

"So he wanted to fight at the beginning of the year, then he wants to return towards spring / summer, maybe fight Jorge Masvidal or Nate Diaz.”

Eddie Hearn defends decision to hold Anthony Joshua v Andy Ruiz Jr in Saudi Arabia

Eddie Hearn defends decision to hold Anthony Joshua v Andy Ruiz Jr in Saudi Arabia

Eddie Hearn claims Canelo Alvarez, Deontay Wilder and boxing’s other big names will be drawn to Saudi Arabia by the riches on offer.

The Saudis are paying over £31million to stage the Clash on the Dunes in Diriyah between Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz and Hearn claims this could be the first of many big fights here.

Joshuas’s promoter claims the Saudis are serious about rivalling Las Vegas as a global boxing venue and can see all the big names coming here.

“The bigger picture, who knows?” he said. “The people I’m dealing with I believe have very good intentions for the sport of boxing. They want the sport to develop in this territory.

“Sometimes you've got to look at the bigger picture and the last few days I've really been looking at this event, the venue, the graphics we’ve been putting out, thinking this is pretty mega.

“If they’re going to be investing this kind of money in the sport, we’ve got to be realists and say this is what’s going to happen.

“Everyone's coming - Canelo, Pacquiao, maybe Wilder - and they’re all coming for one reason - they want the money.”

Hearn has been criticised for coming to Saudi because of the country’s poor human rights record and he says he is a promoter rather than a politician.

Ruiz defends his world titles in Saudi Arabia

He claims Tyson Fury was not slated when he fought here in a WWE event a few weeks ago.

“Tyson Fury came here with WWE and no-one raised an eyebrow,” he said.

“I was driving around today and you see House of Fraser. You go into the mall and see Gucci, Chanel, even Starbucks, major corporations who are willing to trade here.

“I can’t sit here and say it has nothing to do with me, but the bottom line is, I’m not a politician.

“As ruthless as it is, I’ve got a job to do for my fighter. It doesn’t matter what I think, but I am happy and excited at how everything has gone.”

This is the heroic Polish kitchen worker who battled London Bridge terrorist Usman Khan with a 5ft pole as he launched his bloody knife attack.

Lukasz Koczocik, 38, grabbed the 5ft-long ceremonial pole from the walls of Fishmongers' Hall and tackled Khan during the attack last Friday.

Sadly, two former Cambridge university students died in the devastating attack  - Saskia Jones, 23, and Jack Merritt, 25 - but witnesses say more people could have lost their lives if Mr Koczocik had not not stepped in to fight back.

Mr Koczocik had been washing glasses in the basement at the time and ran upstairs after hearing desperate screams coming from upstairs.

The kitchen worker launched at the 28-year-old terrorist and thrust the pike into his chest to stall the attack, while a second hero grabbed a narwhal tusk from the walls as a weapon and a third used a fire extinguisher.

Mr Koczocik has since been praised by his boss for his bravery.

CEO of Fishmongers' Hall Commodore Toby Williamson told the BBC: "He's the guy who cleans the glasses down in the basement and that's exactly what he was doing when he hears this scream.

"The scream was so loud that, as a first aider, he makes a choice. He goes towards the trouble. He gets there on the first floor of the building just behind me and it's pretty clear that there's a bad guy.

Saskia inspired and enriched the lives of those around her

"He's got two knives in his hands, there's blood, there's screams, there's chaos.

"Lukasz pulls off the wall this long stick, he charges towards the bad guy, and he impacts him on the chest and there's clearly something here that is protective and it doesn't make any sort of impact.

"But he's buying time. He allows others to escape, to move to adjacent rooms. At that point he's got about one-minute of one-on-one straight combat."

The attacker had managed to stab the hero kitchen worker four or five times in the left of his body, but despite being seriously injured, he refused to give up, Mr Williamson said.

The battle spilled out in to the main hall, where a conference organised by a University of Cambridge programme called Learning Together was being held.

Khan attempted to flee down the main staircase to the front-door when he realised the scale of numbers against him, MailOnline reports.

A doorman named Gary rushed to hold the door shut so that another worker, Dawn, could ring the emergency services and hit the alarms.

Khan then started to attack two cloakroom girls, named as Alla and Sandra, before stabbing a maintenance man named Andy, Mr Williamson said.

The attacker then managed to burst out of the hall onto London Bridge, but the CEO said Mr Koczocik still "lead the attack" against him, trying to restrain him.

Mr Koczocik shouted at members of the public to get back before collapsing to the floor from the blood loss as the battle continued onto the bridge.

Mr Williamson said that by this stage, Mr Koczocik's "job was done, the police are here and I think you've seen the rest on camera."

Dramatic footage which emerged soon after the attack showed the men armed with the tusk and the fire extinguisher bravely going after Khan and tackling him to the ground.

Khan, who was wearing a fake suicide west, was shot in the chest by armed police officers shortly afterwards.

Mr Koczocik, who was released from hospital on Saturday, is now being put forward for an official honour in Poland, acknowledging his 'courage'.
