Budapest to Host Top-level EU

Following two of the biggest diplomatic events in Hungary’s history, the European Political Community (EPC) Summit in Budapest and the informal EU summit, the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union continues with the highest-level tourism events, Turizmus.com reports.

The 23rd European Tourism Forum (ETF) will once again bring together government and market players in the sector on November 13, alongside leaders and policy makers from the European institutions, and will be complemented by a professional meeting for heads of European national tourism offices the day before. The most important EU tourism conference of the year will take place in the Castle Garden Bazaar (Várkert Bazár).

The European Tourism Forum aims to bring together the highest public, market and academic representatives of European tourism, as well as key EU policy makers, to discuss the key challenges facing the tourism sector.

The program will address sustainability, unbalanced tourism and the inevitable role of artificial intelligence in addressing Europe-wide labor shortages.

Co-organized by the European Commission, the Ministry of European Union Affairs and the Hungarian Tourism Agency (MTÜ), the Forum will feature presentations and panel discussions on the effects of data-driven sector management and impacts of climate change on tourism demand with the participation of respected experts and internationally renowned speakers in the tourism industry. World tourism organizations such as the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) and the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) will also be represented.

On November 12, the day before the Forum, the heads of the European national tourism offices will also hold their meeting in the Hungarian capital, at the initiative of the MTÜ.

They will discuss possible ways to mitigate the impact of climate change on tourism and also issues of adaptation to the climate crisis. As well as sharing professional knowledge, the events will also provide an opportunity to revisit the capital’s renewed tourism offer and cultural heritage with hundreds of high-level international tourism leaders.
