The Hungarian team won over ten medals at the CMAS World Finswimming Championship 2024, running between July 10 and July 17, in Belgrade, Serbia.

According to the Hungarian Divers Federation, the Hungarian team has collected six gold, six silver and two bronze medals.

In addition, the 4x100m multi mixed relay team of Kelen Cséplő, Dorottya Pernyész, Ádám Bukor, Sára Suba finished first with a world record of 2:41.90.

Other gold medalists were Dorottya Pernyész in the 100m freestyle, Alex Mozsár in the 1,500m surface and Nándor Kiss in the 400m surface final. In the latter event Mozsár finished as silver medalist. Also on the podium were Kelen Cséplő in the 100m and 200m freestyle, Bence Lengyeltóti (400m freestyle) and the 4x200m surface relay team of Mozsár, Kiss, Lengyeltóti, Bukor. The first Hungarian bronze medal went to Nándor Kiss, who finished third in the 400m freestyle final.

On Tuesday, the final day of the world tournament, in the 800m surface event Nándor Kiss was the best in the men’s race with a time of 6:14.62, with Alex Mozsár taking silver. The second bronze medal went to Zoé Turucz, who finished third in a huge battle in the 50m freestyle.

In the final event of the World Championships, the 4x100m mixed freestyle,

the relay team of Kelen Cséplő, Dorottya Pernyész, Larion Lipők, Sára Suba, finished as gold medalists, a worthy crowning of an unforgettable and extremely well-organized international event from the Hungarian point of view.

Fact

Finswimming is an underwater sport consisting of four techniques involving swimming with the use of fins either on the water’s surface using a snorkel with either monofins or bifins or underwater with monofin either by holding one’s breath or using open circuit scuba diving equipment. Races are held over similar distances to swimming events, both in the pool and in open water venues. Competition at world and continental level is organized by the Confédération Mondiale des Activités Subaquatiques (CMAS).
