Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has asked Marija Pejcinovic Buric, Secretary-General of the Council of Europe, not to hinder Hungary’s efforts to contain the novel coronavirus epidemic, the prime minister’s press chief told MTI on Thursday morning.
The secretary-general criticised Hungary’s legislation concerning the coronavirus-related state of emergency on Tuesday.
In a letter, Orbán asked the secretary-general to study the exact text of the related bill submitted to parliament, and examine the corresponding legal practice of other nations, Bertalan Havasi said.
“If you are unable to help us in the current crisis, I ask you to at least refrain from hindering our efforts,” Orbán said.
