Singer Remos accused of tax evasion - All assets frozen
Singer Remos accused of tax ev

Singer Antonis Remos is under investigation for tax evasion, with him denying the crime.

The popular singer responded through his lawyers that "I was informed with regret and reasonable concern that the Anti-Money Laundering Authority has frozen all of my movable and immovable assets because I may have committed the offense of tax evasion." He then states that "my regret is a result of a secret procedural process being illegally leaked to the media, and thus exposing me, and my question is that I was never called by the higher Authority to give explanations and provide evidence, which would prove that I have never committed tax evasion. I look forward to receiving a call immediately to find out what is attributed to me, so that I can shake off any censure against me."

Freeze of property for tax evasion of 1.5 million euros
At noon on Thursday (4/7) it became known that the Authority for Combating Income from Illegal Activity proceeded to freeze the movable and immovable assets of the famous singer, up to the amount of 1.5 million euros and this because he is being investigated for tax evasion.

According to information, in the multi-page conclusion of the independent Authority, which has been forwarded to the Prosecutor's Office for further action, reference is made to a company of the singer, whose transaction some time ago allegedly raised the alarm in the control mechanisms of the independent Authority and the investigation began.

According to information, the Authority's conclusion is said to refer to the singer's low tax declarations, approximately 50,000 euros per year, an amount that is estimated to be particularly low for a singer of such stature.

However, a source from the singer's environment who spoke to iefimerida.gr called the information that the annual income shown in his tax returns was 50,000 euros absolutely untrue.

"This information is completely untrue, as the amount of 50,000 refers to his personal tax return, which includes income from the Erato Organization (Organization for the Collective Management and Protection of Related Rights of Singers). The singer's income is declared to his company," said the source.

The data and the conclusion of the Authority were delivered a month ago to the financial prosecutor who is investigating the case.
