Finnish technology group Wärtsilä will supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) propulsion and storage systems for four next-generation short-sea cargo vessels built at the WuHu Shipyard in China. Ordered by the Netherlands-based Wijnne & Barends Chartering, the vessels will be among the first of their kind to be powered by LNG. Due to space restrictions onboard the vessels, Wärtsilä customised the solution in close co-operation with the naval architect and owners so it wouldn’t compromise cargo hold space.
