All pending student grants for the 2023-24 academic year will be paid by next week, the welfare benefits and grants service said on Thursday.
The grants cover a living allowance, first year student allowance, food allowance and air fare allowance.
The value of the grant given is dependent on the family’s income as it the possible additional allowance given to some students.
Applicants to receive the extra funds will be informed by text message.
Last year Cypriot students attending universities both abroad and at home were given greater financial backing from the government to the tune of €4 million.
Finance Minister Makis Keravnos said that money concerned the use of unspent money from the state student care fund.
It was given to students as “a meal allowance of €1,092 and a living allowance of €500”.
