A 50-year-old man was arrested on Monday night after crashing a stolen car into a police vehicle while trying to escape arrest for having stolen the car in the first place.
Police in Limassol saw the man driving a stolen car and attempted to pull him over, and, when he refused to acquiesce to their requests, gave chase.
The man attempted to escape, with the police saying he was “driving dangerously down city streets”, and that as such, he collided with a police car, three privately owned vehicles, and a motorcycle.
The motorcycle’s rider, a 25-year-old man, was taken to the Limassol general hospital for treatment, and discharged shortly after.
The car the man was driving had been reported as stolen on September 24.
After the man was arrested, he underwent a preliminary test for illegal drugs, which came back positive.
He remains in custody, and the police’s investigation into the matter is ongoing.
