THE World University Rankings (WUR) is possibly the best-known and most influential of university rankings in the world, benchmarking institutions across five Performance Indicators Areas: Teaching, Research Environment, Research Quality, Industry and International Outlook.

The impressive ranking position of UNIC is also reflected in its #1 position in Cyprus in two of the five Performance Indicators Areas, namely Research Quality and International Outlook. In this respect, the University of Nicosia is recognised by THE WUR as the best university in Cyprus in these areas.

#115 worldwide in 2024 THE Young University Rankings

The 2024 edition of the Times Higher Education (THE) Young University Rankings places the University of Nicosia (UNIC) at #115 worldwide, jointly with the University of Toulouse in France, among institutions 50 years old or younger.

UNIC excels in the Young University Rankings, securing top positions in Cyprus and Greece in the areas of assessment. Specifically, UNIC ranks first and second in Cyprus and Greece in the two important areas of International Outlook and Research Quality, highlighting the university’s strong research portfolio and its international recognition.

Among world’s top universities in five subject areas

The 2024 results of the annual Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by Subject reinforce the University of Nicosia’s global standing in the disciplines of Business and Economics, Education, and Psychology, ranking it among the:

Campus premises

UNIC’s modern campus is made up of 20 purpose-built and customised buildings, situated in the bustling suburb of Engomi in Nicosia. Over the last few years, the University has invested over €100 million in its campus infrastructure. Erasmus+, NEOLAiA, and study-abroad opportunities

UNIC students and recent graduates have the opportunity to take full advantage of the ERASMUS+ programme in terms of both studying or undertaking an internship abroad, through the UNIC Erasmus Office:

The University of Nicosia is also a full member of the NEOLAiA European University Alliance, dedicated to creating an innovative European University with campuses across nine countries. This initiative is characterised by a common digital identity and coordinated efforts in areas such as digital transformation, diversity and inclusion, and global health. NEOLAiA offers UNIC students the opportunity to spend part of their studies at one or more partner universities.

The NEOLAiA Alliance has been awarded €14.4 million in funding by the European Commission for the next four years, with the project having officially commenced on January 1, 2024. The Alliance was selected alongside six others from 39 new alliances that had applied, achieving a success rate of 18 per cent.

The Career Success Centre (CSC) offers guidance and opportunities to students and graduates, actively supporting them to find an internship or a job.

From their first year at UNIC, students can, through the CSC, engage directly with employers and workplaces, get acquainted with the job market and pursue various internships so that they enhance and develop both their technical and soft skills, learn how to put theory into practice and obtain direct insights into the world of work. These experiences will help shape their aspirations, ambitions, goals and career path.

More specifically, the CSC has a well-established and constantly expanding network of partners and associates of more than 800 companies. During the academic year, CSC cooperates with at least 500 companies to cover their hiring needs by sharing 1,000+ employment and internship opportunities exclusively for students and graduates on its career services platform, Highered. Furthermore, through the Highered global network, students and graduates gain exposure to global opportunities, events and worldwide career fairs.

Many UNIC graduates are making a global impact in a variety of professions, across many sectors. They have gone on to work in renowned medical centres and hospitals, multinational companies, or have launched successful businesses of their own in a variety of exciting industries in Cyprus, in their respective home countries, or elsewhere.
