Among the hundreds of calls that come through to the national Crisis Management Centre at the Foreign Ministry are those of people stranded abroad with their pets trapped at home due to the Covid-19 travel restrictions, Phileleftheros reports.
“We do everything we can to help in such situations,” an operator at the Centre said.
“Many cases are of people who had travelled abroad for 2-3 days and have still been unable to return. We sometimes call a locksmith to give access to the property to take care of the pets,” he said.
He mentioned the case of one British woman who had birds in her apartment and asked for the Centre’s help because she said she would need to be away for some time.
“We get all kinds of requests because people don’t know how long this situation will last. Some people are left alone and just want to chat, others can’t reach out to their loved ones and we take care of that, while other problems are more substantial like money and medicine requests,” he concluded.Ads Links by Easy Branches
