A patient admitted to Nicosia Hospital with a broken leg has tested positive for coronavirus, an official from the state health services organisation (Okipi) has confirmed.

He said the patient had been in a room on his own and had not come into contact with other patients.

Protocols have been activated for health professionals who came into contact with the patient, he added.

The Orthopaedic unit is operating, he added.

The patient had been admitted with a broken leg two days ago with no symptoms. When he exhibited symptoms he was tested for Covid-19.
