As of 1 January 2020, Blitz Group acquired Croatian film distribution company 2i Film d.o.o. The transaction was mutually agreed by both companies following last year's acquisition of 21st Century Fox by The Walt Disney Company, as Blitz group has at the time been a long term Fox distributor, and 2i Film Disney theatrical distributor in the region.
Blitz Group has become thus theatrical distributor of the integrated Disney line-up for Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia and Albania. The slate includes the following Disney brands:
Pixar Animation Studios, Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm Ltd, Touchstone Pictures, Walt Disney Pictures, Walt Disney Animation Studios, 20th Century Fox and Fox Searchlight Pictures now rebranded as 20th Century Studios and Searchlight Pictures, as well as Blue Sky Studios.
Blitz Group enters 2020 with high expectations and looks forward to presenting to local audiences the latest films from the authors behind a number of famous blockbusters, and franchises such as Star Wars, Frozen, Lion King and Avengers, including brand new upcoming titles that are yet to win their audiences.
2i Film is one of the most innovative film distributors in Croatia and the region, best known for many years of successfull cooperation with Disney, as well as distribution of a number of independent titles a number of some of the highest-grossing local titles such as the "Koko" franchise including "Koko and the Ghosts", as well as "Zvizdan" and "ZG80".
Blitz Group is the biggest film and audiovisual content distributor in the region, whose slate includes independent titles coming from LionsGate Films, Amblin Partners, Miramax, Filmnation, STX Entertainment, Endeavor, and a number of European studios including StudioCanal, Pathe, Gaumont, SND and many other.
Blitz Group also has respectable cooperation with local film producers from, promoting local titles in the region. Last but not least, Biltz Group is a proud exclusive theatrical distributor of Warner Bros. Pictures International and Paramount Pictures International/UIP.
From its inception in 1992, Blitz Group has constantly been developing and spreading its activities. To date, it distributes a wide variety of content in the region to cinemas, digital media, and broadcasters. Blitz Group is a co-founding partner in Blitz-Cinestar, multiplex network which received the UNIC award as The 2019 International Exhibitor of the Year.
