More and more branch organizations in agriculture are announcing their readiness to protest because of unpaid funds under the so-called Ukrainian aid intended to compensate for economic losses due to the war in Ukraine. The members of the Chamber of Fruit and Vegetable Producers joined the declarations of grain producers, sheep breeders and organic producers.
The state owes the farmers BGN 300 million (EUR 153.2 million) for the second tranche of aid, and the deadline for their payment expired on September 30 of this year.
According to unofficial information, the Finance Ministry is ready to transfer BGN 200 million (EUR 102.1 million) by October 15, and the rest of the payment by the end of November. However, the Association of Grain Producers does not agree with the proposal for a two-time payment, its chairman Iliya Prodanov told BNR.
Farmers are expected to be invited to a meeting at the Ministry of Finance tomorrow.
