Pitch inspections take place at St. Conleth's Park and Breffni Park ahead of All-Ireland semi-finals

Following pitch inspections this morning, the All-Ireland senior club football semi-finals have got the go ahead.

There were concerns that the recent snow and ice, followed by a thaw today could lead to waterlogged surfaces.

But with match officials checking the pitches, the games at St. Conleth’s Park (Newbridge), where Errigal Ciaran face Dr. Crokes, and Breffni Park (Cavan), which hosts Coolera Strandhill versus Cuala, both games have got the green light.

This is a major relief to the GAA who were facing a fixture backlog, with the club football semi-finals already being put back a week due to the adverse weather conditions.

It also means that the senior club finals can now go ahead as scheduled as a double header at Croke Park next weekend.

Dublin’s Na Fianna and Cork’s Sarsfields qualified for the hurling final before Christmas.

Both of today’s football semi-finals will be screened on TG4 with coverage starting at 2.30pm.
