Person found dead in Strovolos field had been shot, autopsy shows

A person found dead face-down in an open plot in Strovolos on January 6 had been shot in the back with a single bullet, the police said on Friday.

Police responded to a call on Monday at 9.45pm that a body was in a plot in Strovolos.

The body was taken to the mortuary at Nicosia general hospital, where an autopsy was conducted on Friday by coroner Nicolas Charalambous.

A bullet was found during the autopsy on the body and police are now investigating premeditated murder.

Sources told Reporter that Charalambous had earlier ruled out criminal action.

It appears that the body belongs to a 24-year-old man from Pakistan.
