Cristiano Ronaldo's Manchester United transfer request

Saudi side Al-Nassr have been urged to sign Manchester United star Casemiro by Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Brazilian midfielder is one of a number of players that United would be willing to sell as they look to get his massive wages off of the balance sheet at Old Trafford.

Casemiro has been regularly linked with a move to the Middle East and a host of clubs have expressed their interest in him, including Al-Nassr, who Ronaldo plays for. A move would see the former teammates reunited after Ronaldo left Old Trafford in explosive fashion back in 2022.

And it appears that the Portuguese veteran is doing everything in his power to get a deal over the line, reports The Mirror.

According to reports, Ronaldo has made a personal plea to club chiefs to seal Casemiro’s signature. United boss Ruben Amorim has already approved a sale, with the vast majority of the underperforming Red Devils’ squad available at the right price.

Casemiro, 32, has made 105 appearances for the club since his arrival from Real Madrid. He has 18 months left on his lucrative Old Trafford contract.

His performances this season have garnered criticism, with some slamming his lack of speed - something that Amorim claims he can sympathise with. Speaking after the recent defeat to Newcastle, he said: “I can understand the criticism and I understand if you compare the pace of the midfielders from Newcastle and our pace I understand that.

“We try to cope and try to put our players in a position that can hide a little bit that difference of pace. But I understand that after the game it's really easy to evaluate the players.

“I think all the criticism around my team I think is fair and I can live with that. When it's fair I can live with that and I can understand.”

Even if Al-Nassr are successful in signing Casemiro, his reunion with Ronaldo might not last very long. He has just six months left on his contract in Saudi Arabia and is considering his options with a move to MLS on the table as per Marca.

But Ronaldo has remained firm on his praise of the Saudi Pro League amid talk on his future, claiming it is better than Ligue 1. He said: "The Saudi Pro League is better than Ligue 1, of course.

“I'm not saying that because I play here. I don't care what people think about it. Players should come here and they will see quickly. Just try to do sprints at 38, 39, 40 degrees...

"Come and you will see. If you don't believe me, come. In France, they only have PSG, everyone else is finished. Nobody can beat them because they have the most money and the best players."
