New Reality Show Depicts Life in the Defense Forces

Today, Hungary is defended by an effective military force, the Defense Minister said at a press conference on the reality program The Training (A Kiképzés), produced in cooperation with the Hungarian Defense Forces in Budapest on Thursday.

Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky emphasized that the Hungarian Defense Forces are working to become a force of high operational value, capable of rapid and flexible combat, equipped with modern high-tech equipment, capable of demonstrating serious and deterrent power, and fully ensuring the security of the Hungarian people. According to the Minister, the new sports reality program jointly developed by the Hungarian Defense Forces and Hungarian television channel TV2 will also showcase the changes that have taken place in the Defense Forces.

The Minister pointed out that

in recent years the Hungarian Defense Forces have become a modern, well-trained force armed with advanced 21st century techniques and technology, and the Hungarian people can experience this change through the new sports reality program, which is a genre creator.

Viewers will experience human dramas, downfalls and uprisings, as well as camaraderie and heroism. As he said, there is nothing like the cohesive, comradely community of the Defense Forces.

According to the Minister, The Training also brings viewers closer to the patriotism that can be experienced in the army. “In the army we can understand what it means to directly protect our families and our homes,” emphasized Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky, who introduced the trainers in the program.

“The players volunteered for the training, thus giving their trust to the military service they undertook to demonstrate and experience. The players put on their uniforms and for six weeks they felt the character-building power and became a little bit of our everyday heroes,” recalled the Minister, stressing that the fact that many of the players have since then volunteered as Territorial Defense Reservists speaks for itself.

Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky called the sports reality program jointly developed by the Ministry of Defense and TV2 a unique Hungarian product.

The show was shot for 60 days in 5 locations in Hungary and in Sarajevo. The reality show is an authentic depiction of the training process of Hungarian soldiers and also entertains the audience, Tv2’s creative director, Andor Katona explained.

In The Training, the top 24 players are preselected to form four teams and compete based on military training, pushing their physical and mental limits. Under the guidance of the four trainers, the actors will perform exercises specially developed for the show, which will feature the military forces and equipment of the Hungarian Defense Forces.

The Training will be shown on TV2 from January 27.
