Former Footballer of the year makes return to management with three-time county champions
Former Kerry star Paul Galvin has returned to management with Meath club Ratoath.
Galvin has been involved with various teams since retiring from inter-county football in 2015, most notably as manager of Wexford, a role that he relinquished prematurely in 2020 due to a change in circumstances brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.
He later had a brief involvement with Kildare under Glenn Ryan and most recently was part of the Kilmacud Crokes’ management team under Robbie Brennan as they relinquished their Dublin title last year. Brennan has now gone on to take charge of the Meath senior team, which will include a number of Ratoath players.

Ratoath have a strong pedigree in Meath on the back of winning their first county title in 2019 under ex-Dublin goalkeeper Davy Byrne. They retained the title the following year with former Meath forward Brian Farrell at the helm and won another title in 2022, this time with ex-Mayo midfielder David Brady at the helm.
Last year, they were beaten by eventual champions Dunshaughlin at the quarter-final stage and four-time All-Ireland winner Galvin will succeed Lar Norton, making him the club’s fifth manager since Byrne.
