Steven Gerrard responds to news his daughter is expecting first child with son of Kinahan mobster Liam Byrne

Steven Gerrard has reacted to news his daughter is expecting her first child with Liam Byrne's son, saying that he "can't wait".

Lilly-Ella Gerrard is expecting her first child with her boyfriend Lee, who is the son of Kinahan cartel mobster Liam Byrne.

Sharing a photo of a positive pregnancy test, Lilly-Ella said on social media: "Our little secret. The best news... mini us is on the way."

Lee, who has no involvement in crime, has been in a relationship with Lilly-Ella since October 2022. She was 18 years old at the time and he was 23.

Ex-Rangers manager Gerrard has responded to the news by writing: "We can't wait, great news and congratulations we love you", reports The Mirror.

Lee previously referred to Lilly-Ella as “the best person he’s ever met”. Byrne is the son of notorious Dubliner Liam. The 44-year-old was arrested in Spain in 2023 and was jailed in October 2024 for five years for weapons charges.

Byrne Sr pleaded guilty to conspiracy to import firearms. He is expected to only serve half of his sentence - and had already served 14 months in custody when he was convicted late last year.

Byrne Jr has never been involved in any criminal activity. Lee is with Lilly-Ella, the oldest of Gerrard’s four children. He also has three other other children: Lexie, 18, Lourdes, 13, and an eight-year-old son, Leo.

Meanwhile, Gerrard, 44, will hope that he can get his professional life back on track before meeting his new grandchild. The Liverpool icon is under huge pressure with the Saudi side after a disappointing start to the new season.

Al-Ettifaq currently sit 11th in the standings after winning four out of their opening 13 league games of the campaign. They are next in action against Al-Kholood on Friday afternoon.

There has been plenty of change at the club over the past few months. Dean Holden and Mark Allen were let go, with Michael Beale being appointed as his assistant.

Explaining those decisions, Gerrard said: "The club made decisions regarding the departure of Mark Allen and Dean Holden. The decision was also made to bring Michael Beale in who is a super coach, we spent years together previously and it's great to have him back with me. Now we need some time to develop and improve."

Al-Ettifaq have also lost midfielder Sekou Fofana, who has moved to French side Rennes. Gerrard remains under contract until 2027. He has previously been in charge of Rangers and Aston Villa.
