Gardai launch investigation after man hospitalised following Cork hit and run


Gardaí are investigating after a man was hospitalised following a hit and run in Cork on Saturday evening.



Gardaí and emergency services were rushed to the scene of the collision, involving a pedestrian and a car, which occurred on the Rathpeacon Road in Carhoo, Cork at around 6:45pm.



The pedestrian, a male in his 50s, was transferred to Cork University Hospital for treatment of injuries, not believed to be life-threatening.

The car and driver involved failed to remain at the scene. The car was later located a short distance away and seized for technical examination



A Garda spokesperson told the Irish Mirror: “Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of a road traffic collision in Carhoo, Co. Cork on Saturday evening, 28 December.



“The collision involving a car and a pedestrian occurred on the Rathpeacon Road at approximately 6:45pm.



“The pedestrian, a male in his 50s, was transferred to Cork University Hospital for treatment of injuries, not believed to be life-threatening.



“The car and driver involved failed to remain at the scene. The car was later located a short distance away and seized for technical examination. Investigations are ongoing.”
